Fabricator / Body Builder – Mulgrave, NSW

About the role   
Hands-on fabrication of skips and truck body components using MIG welding and mild steel. Great opportunity to join a growing, family owned Aussie manufacturer in their head office and production facility based in Mulgrave, NSW. 
 
Duties  

• Fabricate and assemble truck bodies, skips, and components (arms, legs, jibs, frames, etc.) using mild steel and occasional high-tensile materials  
• Perform MIG welding, cutting, grinding, and general fabrication to drawings and specifications 
• Interpret engineering drawings and fabrication plans accurately  
• Fit and align components for heavy vehicle equipment such as skip loaders, hook lifts, and tarping systems  
• Work closely with fitters and hydraulic technicians during installation  
• Maintain a clean, safe workspace and uphold quality and safety standards  
• Ask questions and collaborate with supervisors and team members to ensure correct builds — this is a niche role with specific processes and techniques 

Skills and experience 

• Trade qualified Boilermaker / Fabricator / Body Builder (or equivalent)
• Strong MIG welding and steel fabrication skills with mild steel; experience with high-tensile steel beneficial  
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings  
• Basic hydraulic fitting experience or understanding preferred  
• Experience in truck body, trailer, or heavy equipment fabrication desirable  
• Safety-conscious, team-oriented, and willing to learn and ask questions
