About the role
This is a hybrid Accounts and Operations Assistant role supporting multiple small businesses within a growing group. It combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with customer service and operational support in a manufacturing environment.
The role is approximately 50/50 accounts and operations/admin, with significant customer-facing duties. You will be one of a small team of three who answer phones for the businesses, handle customer enquiries, bookings, payments, and problem-solving. On the operations side, you’ll manage purchase orders, logistics coordination, and general administration. On the accounts side, you’ll handle AR/AP, reconciliations, stocktakes, month-end processes, and reporting.
Duties
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes across multiple entities
- Handle customer enquiries, bookings, and payments via phone and email
- Assist with purchase orders, logistics coordination, and general administration
- Support month-end processes including reconciliations, reporting, and stocktakes
- Work with multiple accounting systems and assist with ERP system transition
- Maintain strong relationships with customers and internal teams
Skills and experience
- Previous experience in accounts, administration, or operations support
- Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, or ERP systems)
- High level of organisation and attention to detail
- Comfortable dealing with a diverse customer base, including blue-collar industries
