About the company
Our client is a specialist engine reconditioning business, highly regarded for their expertise in high-performance V8s. Approximately 90% of their work centres on Ford Cleveland, Windsor, Small Block Chev, 308s, and other classic Australian engines. With three key areas of operation — parts, engines, and workshop, they have built a strong reputation for quality, precision, and passion for engines. They are now seeking an experienced Automotive Machinist / Engine Reconditioner to join their tight-knit engine shop team and play a vital role in their continued success.
About the role
This is a hands-on machining position, with around 90% of your time spent on precision engine work. You’ll be carrying out boring, honing, crank grinding, and cylinder head reconditioning, with a strong focus on bottom ends. Engines are delivered complete — your role is to handle the machining and reconditioning process, with 90%+ new parts fitted. While some light mechanical work may occasionally come up, this position is very much machining-focused.
It’s an excellent opportunity to work alongside a highly skilled, tight-knit team, focusing on what you love most — high-performance engine machining and reconditioning.
Duties
- Perform precision machining of engine components, including boring, honing, crank grinding, and cylinder head work, with a strong focus on high-performance V8s.

- Carry out machining work on classic Aussie engines, including Ford Cleveland, Windsor, Small Block Chev, and 308s.
- Operate and maintain workshop machinery with accuracy, care, and attention to strict tolerances.
- Work predominantly in machining (90% machining, 10% light mechanical work only, if required).
- Collaborate within a small, skilled team of machinists, contributing as a bottom end specialist or a capable all-rounder.
- Ensure all engine reconditioning and performance builds meet the highest industry and workshop standards.
