About the role
A long-established, family-owned manufacturing business (70+ years) is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter for their Gold Coast operation in Molendinar. You will perform preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, and improvement work on a wide range of in-house production machinery (CNC, coiling machines, furnaces, conveyors, shot peening, etc.). You’ll join a skilled, long-tenured team of fitters and receive structured mentorship (~6 months) from experienced operators to quickly master the equipment. Ideal for a trade-qualified fitter with strong MIG/TIG welding, fabrication, and mechanical troubleshooting skills (90% mechanical focus), who values stability and a supportive, family-oriented workplace with many team members of 10–30+ years’ service.
Duties
- Perform preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on production machinery
- Repair and maintain CNC machines, coiling machines, furnaces, and conveyors
- Diagnose and fix mechanical faults
- Learn company-specific machines and processes through 6-month mentoring
- Carry out welding, fabrication, and boilermaking tasks as needed
- Work flexibly across a wide range of maintenance duties
Skills and experience
- Welding/fabrication skills, boilermaking, maintenance fitting. Proficiency in MIG & TIG welding.
- Desirable: Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic experience (support available in-house).
- Additional: Lathe experience or comfort working with lathes is a plus.
- Certifications & Tickets:
- Core tickets: Welding/fab, boilermaking.
- Additional tickets (e.g., confined space) are advantageous, but support/training can be provided.
Benefits
- $46 per hour starting salary (depending on experience)
- Spread shifts between 5:00am–5:00pm (5:00am–2:30pm or 7:30am–5:00pm) with early finish on Friday
- Performance-based bonuses paid twice yearly (subject to company performance)
