Our client, Camcast, has been operating in Kirrawee in Sutherland Shire since 1950 and is now recognized as one of the leading foundries based in New South Wales.
THE ROLE:
Responsible for the manufacturing of metal parts and products through the process of metal casting. Plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and consistency of cast metal products, and their work is essential in various industries, including automotive, aerospace, construction, and manufacturing.
● 2 Full Time position/s
● $65,000-$90,000 PA depending on experience
● Location: NSW
Key Responsibilities:
● Prepare Molds: Set up and prepare molds, cores, and patterns for casting, ensuring they meet specifications and quality standards.
● Melting and Pouring: Operate and monitor furnaces, kilns, or other melting equipment to melt metal, and then pour the molten metal into molds.
● Quality Control: Inspect castings for defects, such as cracks or air bubbles, and make necessary adjustments to the casting process to ensure high-quality products.
● Material Handling: Handle and transport raw materials, including metals and casting sands, to the production area, and ensure proper storage and organization.
● Maintain Equipment: Perform routine maintenance on casting equipment to ensure it operates efficiently and safely.
● Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment.
● Finish and Trim Castings: Remove excess material, such as gates and risers, from castings, and grind or polish surfaces to achieve the desired finish.
● Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production data, including the number of castings
produced and any quality issues encountered.
● Teamwork: Collaborate with other team members, such as supervisors, engineers, and quality control inspectors, to achieve production goals and resolve any issues.
THE PERSON:
● Previous experience in metal casting or a related field is required.
● Knowledge of various casting processes, including sand casting, or die casting.
● Familiarity with the use of casting equipment, such as furnaces, molds, and casting tools.
● Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot defects in castings.
● Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
● Basic knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to follow safety guidelines.
● Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
