Our client, Midpro Engineering Pty Ltd,  is located on the Newell Highway, Forbes and has continued to serve the Central West with quality products and service since 1992.

We are seeking dependable, innovative candidates who work confidently and independently. Metal Machinists can expect to work with both software and hardware, conduct tests and inspections of products, services and software systems, and repair faulty programs and machinery. You should have an above-average aptitude for trigonometry, geometry, statistics and algebra, excellent computer and interpersonal communication skills, physical stamina and a keen interest in production and processing.

To be successful as a Metal Machinist you should be creative, perceptive, detail-oriented and an active learner. Top candidates will have exceptional critical thinking, time management and communication skills, an ability to handle complex machines and tools, and a willingness to lead by example in the workplace.

  • 2 full time positions available
  • $70,000-$85,000 PA depending on experience
  • Location: NSW

The Person;

  • Certificate in machine shop technology or machine tool technology/machinist.
  • 1-2 years experience in mechanical assembly is preferred.
  • Recognised apprenticeship may be required.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and computer skills.
  • Understanding of mathematics.
  • Ethical behaviour.
  • Attention to detail and self-motivation.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Writing and interpreting instructions and procedures to assemble equipment and products accurately.
  • Getting information from all relevant sources.
  • Experience programming, setting and operating CNC router
  • Controlling machines and processes.
  • Performing inspections of equipment, structures, materials and products.
  • Ability to read and understand production/CAD drawings
  • Maintaining clear and honest communication at all times.
  • Keeping the work environment safe.
  • Learning and applying the latest relevant knowledge to the work.  

Overview of the position:

  • Proficient in the use of manual centre lathes, internal & external machining, screw cutting using both carbide & HSS Tooling
  • Proficient in the use of milling machines either vertical, horizontal, or universal for cutting keyways, splines & facing etc.
  • Proficient in the use of slotting machines for cutting internal keyways or splines
  • Proficient in the use of internal & external measuring equipment eg: micrometres, verniers, dial gauges etc & ability to calculate measurements
  • Proficient in interpreting & understanding workshop drawings, specifications, tolerances
