About the role
Step into a senior finance role where your insights shape strategy and drive growth. Be part of a $100m multi-unit group, work closely with the board, and make a real impact.
Duties
- Lead the finance function for a multi-unit group ($100m + turnover), overseeing reporting, analysis, and compliance.
- Deliver monthly management reports and board-level insights, translating numbers into clear commercial recommendations.
- Manage banking, insurance, floor plan financing, and other key external relationships.
- Drive the annual budgeting process and provide accurate forecasting to support strategic decision-making.
- Oversee cash flow, risk management, and ensure financial controls are in place across all business units.
- Mentor and manage a small finance team (FM, FA, AP), with dotted-line influence over AR staff.
- Work hands-on in a flat, family-business style structure while guiding the team to deliver accurate and timely results.
- Contribute actively to the senior management team, with a seat at the board and input into strategic discussions.
- Assess new business opportunities, conduct due diligence, and evaluate financial and commercial risks.
- Enhance reporting and analysis through advanced Excel and financial systems (Auto IT advantageous).
Skills and experience
- CPA or CA qualified, with 10+ years’ experience in accounting and finance.
- Proven track record leading a finance team and working closely with senior management.
- Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial analysis.
- Skilled at providing not just numbers, but commercial insights that influence business decisions.
- Hands-on leadership style, ideally with experience in a flat or family-business environment.
- Confident in managing external stakeholders, including banks, insurers, and auditors.
- Experienced in board-level reporting and contributing to strategic discussions.
- Advanced Excel skills, with exposure to Auto IT or similar systems highly regarded.
- Ability to assess new business opportunities, evaluate risks, and provide sound recommendations.
- Automotive industry experience desirable but not essential.
