About the role
Ready to take the next step in your career? This is an ideal role for a mechanic looking to move towards an off-the-tools position. Guide, mentor and support the workshop and wider dealership team to deliver excellent levels of customer service. Proven experience as a truck mechanic and strong diagnostic skills are essential, preferably gained in a main dealer environment.
Duties
- Oversee daily workshop operations and manage job flow.
- Support and mentor technicians, especially on complex jobs.
- Ensure high-quality work through checks and road tests.
- Update service advisors/customers on job status or delays.
- Keep job cards and documentation accurate and complete.
- Ensure compliance with OH&S and company policies.
- Lead by example and help maintain a positive team culture.
Skills and experience
- Qualified automotive technician (Cert III or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a workshop leadership or senior tech role
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to guide and mentor a team effectively
- Solid understanding of OH&S and workshop compliance
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Confident using workshop software and job card systems
- Reliable, organised, and focused on quality and efficiency
