About the role   
Oversee daily operations in a growing workshop servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of Australian manufactured heavy vehicle equipment. This is a great opportunity for an existing foreman, workshop controller or senior/head mechanic to join a growing family business in an exciting period of growth and take the Melbourne workshop to the next level!
 
Duties  

• Supervise daily workshop operations for installation, service and repair of heavy vehicle equipment (skip loaders, hook lifts, tarping, hydraulics) 
• Lead, support, and train a team of fitters and mechanics to ensure high-quality, safe workmanship  
• Coordinate job scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation to meet deadlines 
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting on hydraulic and electric-over-hydraulic systems 
• Conduct quality checks, ensure compliance with safety and company standards 
• Liaise with management, customers, and suppliers to manage priorities and resolve issues 

Skills and experience 

• Trade qualified Plant, Heavy Vehicle or Diesel Mechanic (or equivalent)
• Proven experience in hydraulic system installation and repair  
• Strong understanding of electric-over-hydraulic controls and diagnostics 
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a workshop or service environment 
• Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills  
• Safety-focused, organized, and able to mentor others effectively
