Workshop Supervisor (Truck) – Penrith, NSW
- Oversee a manageable team across fleet service and tarping systems on a wide range of trucks and tailors
- Mix of productive work and management responsibilities including customer interaction
- Take full control of workshop operations and contribute to business growth – advance your career as the company expands
About the role
Join a respected, family-oriented truck and trailer workshop in Western Sydney as Truck Workshop Supervisor, leading from the front in a hands-on role. You’ll spend most of your time on the tools—diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a range of commercial trucks and trailers —while guiding a small, tight-knit team of about five collaborative, high-integrity blokes who pitch in across tasks and get the job done together.
You’ll own the daily rhythm: pre-planning jobs the evening before, greeting customers first thing, directing workflow with clear, confident leadership, handling basic electrical fault-finding (with specialist support nearby), and keeping the workshop moving smoothly in a straightforward, no-nonsense culture built on mutual support and ambition.
This is your chance to step up and grow with a steadily expanding local business that backs its people with training and real progression opportunities as it adds services and grows further. If you’re a qualified heavy vehicle mechanic (Cert III or equivalent) with strong diagnostics, natural leadership, customer confidence, and ideally an HC licence, come lead a crew that keeps Western Sydney’s fleets rolling safely.
Duties
- Lead from the front in a hands-on capacity (approximately 80% on the tools, 20% leadership).
- Manage daily workflow within the workshop – directing the team, allocating jobs, and ensuring productivity remains high.
- Set the tone on the floor through confident leadership, training, motivation, and clear communication.
- Pre-plan the following day’s work schedule, assess incoming jobs, confirm parts availability, and coordinate timing with office staff.
- Greet customers each morning, discuss job requirements, and ensure smooth job intake.
- Perform servicing, repairs, and diagnostics on a range of commercial vehicles, primarily slightly older trucks.
- Diagnose and fault-find basic electrical issues; liaise with the sister auto electrical business when specialist support is required.
- Coordinate on-site auto electricians when necessary.
- Assist with breakdowns, callouts, and off-site servicing as the business grows.
- Contribute to business growth initiatives, with potential flexibility for future afternoon or night shifts

- Strong leadership capability with the confidence to direct workflow and manage a small team.
- Ability to plan and organise workshop operations effectively.

- Ideally holds an HC licence (highly regarded).
- Experience working within a fleet or private transport environment highly desirable.
- Ambitious, growth-oriented mindset with a desire to develop as the business expands.
- Team-focused attitude suited to a tight-knit, straightforward workshop culture.

- 10% discretionary bonus based on business performance.
