About the company
A leading Australian manufacturer of heavy-duty road transport trailers based in Wendouree, Ballarat. With over 75 years of industry experience, the company designs, builds, and services trailers for freight, bulk, and refrigerated transport, backed by a national support network.

About the role
This is a hands-on welding role focused on aluminium work in a production environment. You’ll be part of a small team, producing clean, visual welds with consistent hours, training provided, and plenty of overtime available.

Duties

  • Perform aluminium welding (primarily MIG) on trailer components such as tipper tubs and other fabricated parts.
  • Carry out production welding to a high visual standard – no grinding, sanding, or cosmetic finishing; weld quality is critical.
  • Weld aluminium materials up to 10mm thickness with precision and consistency.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and welding symbols accurately.
  • Operate welding equipment and maintain safe work practices in line with company policies and WHS standards.
  • Collaborate within a small team (approx. 3 people within a wider team of 15) and contribute to overall workshop output.
  • Conduct routine checks on equipment and report any maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work area

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience as an Aluminium Welder, preferably in production or fabrication settings.
  • Strong competency with MIG welding on aluminium up to 10mm thickness.
  • Ability to produce visually tidy welds to a high standard without the need for cosmetic rework.
  • Skilled in reading and working from technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Physically fit to meet the demands of welding and fabrication work.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and following established procedures.
  • Flexibility and reliability to meet production schedules.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay around $70K/year (negotiable) with plenty of overtime available
  • Stable 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM schedule with consistent workflow
  • Supportive, multicultural team environment with potential 482 visa sponsorship
  • Reliable, production-focused work with flexibility to meet scheduling needs
