They are currently expanding their field service capabilities and are seeking a motivated technician to help grow this division.
About the role
Our client is a seeking an experienced heavy diesel or mobile plant mechanic to join the team in a newly created field service role, commissioning, repairing and maintaining power units installed in a wide range of industrial equipment from earthmoving kit and rock crushers to reach stackers and straddle movers. This is an autonomous role and requires an experienced mechanic; opportunities to grow into more senior role as the department develops and grows – this will be a great career move for the right candidate!
Duties
- Commission new engines installed by OEM to brand standards; inspect and check parameters using scan tools. ·
- Provide ongoing service, maintenance, and repairs for engines and mobile plant equipment.
- Attend customer sites for on-site repairs.
- Assist with larger jobs such as engine rebuilds when needed.
- Raise work orders, manage invoicing, and complete basic administrative tasks.
- Identify opportunities to upsell labour or additional services.
- Support business growth by demonstrating reliability and building client relationships.
Skills and experience
- Minimum qualification: Certificate III in Heavy Diesel or equivalent.
- Experience as a mobile plant or truck/engine mechanic.
- Hydraulics experience is desirable.
- Electrical testing experience; familiarity with CAN networks is beneficial.
- Ability to work independently on-site with a strong focus on safety.
- Willingness to complete online training and accreditations as required
- Physically capable and comfortable with fieldwork, sometimes dirty or challenging conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to pre-plan jobs efficiently.
