About the company
Our client is an established dealership and service provider in the heavy vehicle and commercial truck sector, operating as part of a long-standing, family-owned automotive group in Queensland. They specialise in sales, servicing, parts, and maintenance for a leading truck brand, with a focus on delivering high-quality support to commercial and fleet customers. The business prides itself on a modern, well-equipped workshop environment and a supportive team culture.

Uniforms are provided, along with a weekly tool allowance.

Duties

  • Carry out a wide range of scheduled and general maintenance tasks – mostly mechanical with some light diagnostics
  • Advise of any additional work that is required to the workshop foreman
  • Document all work performed including cause and correction and recommend any work not carried out during service and repair.
  • Ensure that the customer vehicle is left as they found it (included cleanliness, movement of the seat, radio, Bluetooth and mirror adjustments)
  • Supervision of any apprentice that you are assigned
  • Appropriately and safely operate all tools and equipment as mandated through safety training. Report any safety, equipment defects or malfunction issues to management immediately.
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Attend all dealership and service department meetings and online training when requested.
  • Keep workshop area neat and clean and be able to account for all dealership-owned tools at all times.

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience as a heavy vehicle mechanic, with strong technical mechanical skills
  • Solid background in scheduled maintenance, general repairs, relines, cylinder head work, and similar heavy vehicle tasks
  • Diagnostic ability is a nice-to-have but not essential — core mechanical competence is the priority
  • Relevant trade qualifications (heavy vehicle/diesel mechanic) and licences preferred
  • Must already be on shore in Australia (client open to discussing visa renomination/support for the right candidate; accommodation assistance may be available)
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work effectively in a team of around 10 workshop staff
  • Reliable, safety-focused approach in a busy workshop setting

Benefits

  • $40–$47.20 per hour (Day/Night shift rates)
  • Plenty of overtime available at penalty rates
