  • Work with brand-new equipment in a busy, supportive workshop.
  • Flexible hours with no high-pressure targets.

About the company
Our client is a well-established automotive repair workshop specializing in accident-damaged vehicles. They pride themselves on a friendly, team-oriented environment and a strong focus on quality repairs for insurance work.

About the role
Just Automotive Recruitment is searching for a Panel Beater in Mitchell, ACT. The role focuses on panel repairs, remove-and-refits, and replacements—no structural work required.

Duties

  • Perform panel repairs on accident-damaged vehicles, including remove-and-refit of panels, quarter panels, and associated components.
  • Assess damage and carry out a mix of panel repairs (approx. 30–40% of jobs) and panel replacements (heavy focus on replacement rather than extensive repair).
  • Strip and refit vehicle components to access damaged areas, using new workshop equipment (welding, regas/degas systems, etc.).
  • Work alongside the existing team of 2 panel beaters, 2 painters, 1 apprentice painter, and 1 detailer in a busy insurance-focused workshop.
  • Ensure all repairs meet quality standards and are completed efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Assist with general workshop tasks as needed (no structural repairs required; mechanical sublet work is handled externally).

Skills and experience

  • Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing (AUR32420) or Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair Technology (AUR32120) or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a qualified panel beater (trade-qualified preferred).
  • Open to a strong Year 3 or Year 4 apprentice who is reliable and ready to step up.
  • Solid technical knowledge of panel repair techniques, welding, and remove-and-refit processes.
  • Ability to work with modern vehicle panels and a high volume of replacement parts.
  • Reliable, team-oriented, and comfortable in a small, friendly workshop environment with no high-pressure targets.
  • Full Australian driver’s license and right to work in Australia.
  • Own basic hand tools (major equipment supplied by the workshop)

Benefits

  • Monday to Friday, 7 AM – 3 PM, with flexible start and finish times.
  • Competitive pay: $45–$60 per hour depending on experience.
  • Supportive, close-knit team environment.
  • Modern workshop with new equipment provided.
