About the role
Just Automotive Recruitment is searching for a skilled Body Builder / Mechanic to carry out commercial vehicle and trailer repairs, fabrication and servicing while helping support the continued growth of the business. We are ideally looking for a senior tradesperson who can oversee a small team, guide the business and provide support and guidance to the management team. Duties
- Repair and maintain tailgates, chassis, hangers and general trailer bodywork (aluminium and steel)
- Fabricate, cut and weld aluminium and steel components using MIG and TIG processes
- Design, fabricate and install underrun systems for trucks and trailers
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, air and mechanical systems on commercial vehicles and trailers
- Carry out trailer servicing and minor-to-major repairs (mainly trailers; engines and gearboxes not required)
- Install and repair tarping systems and perform general fault diagnosis
- Complete occasional on-site trailer work at customer locations
- Support day-to-day operations including taking phone calls, diagnosing faults over the phone, and helping grow the business
Skills and experience
- Proven experience as a Body Builder, Trailer Mechanic or in a similar commercial vehicle/trailer trade role
- Strong fabrication skills with confident MIG and TIG welding on aluminium and steel
- Hands-on experience with commercial vehicle and trailer body repairs (no fibreglass work required)
- Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic and air-system faults highly regarded
- Sound mechanical aptitude (minor electrical work is an advantage but not essential)
- Positive, enthusiastic attitude with strong communication and customer-service skills
- Willingness to work autonomously, support a small team environment, and contribute to business growth
- Existing industry contacts are highly regarded
